Getting your workspace ready for the big move
- Purge unnecessary supplies, files, etc that you won’t need in your new office.
- Pack and move personal items yourself (clocks, photos, knickknacks, pictures, plants, etc).
- Back up computer files and keep separately from computer.
- Put lids on pens and bundle together.
- Dispose of any liquids (including opened printer cartridges and toner) to avoid leakages.
- Place office stationary (stapler, paper clips, pens, etc) and any loose items inside envelopes, then pack into boxes.
- Disconnect electronics and computers, taping cords together.
- Empty desk drawers, bookshelves and cupboards. Packing all items into boxes.
- Label all boxes and equipment clearly
- Heaviest items should be placed in smallest boxes
- Pad boxes with additional paper to cut down on movement.
- Individually wrap glass or breakable items such as coffee mugs, vases.
- Once emptied, lock or tape desk drawers together. These items will be mostly likely moved on end.
