No truer is the saying, ‘time is money’ than when it comes to moving office. The longer it takes to transition your operations from the old location to the new one, the less money your business is making.

Planning is the key. The more time-efficient you and your staff are, the more cost effective your move will be. Here are some simple steps to follow to minimise downtime as much as possible:

1. Hire experienced office movers. They have the expertise and equipment to ensure you are moved quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.
2. Move after hours or on a weekend. The impact on the business is minimal and efficiency of the moving team is greater. Hourly rates may be higher but this is usually offset by the efficiency of the move.
3. Work closely with your IT team from the onset. Servers, phone systems and computers should be seamlessly transitioned.
4. Hire specialty office moving equipment. Reduce the packing, unpacking time of equipment by utilising specialty computer trolleys, library trolleys, and desk dollys.
5. Purge and Shred. Take the opportunity of the move to get rid of unwanted papers, merchandise or old equipment.
6. Communicate. This is probably one of the most important tasks. Everyone should know what is expected of them before, during and immediately after the move.
