Pest Preventative Strategy Checklist

Once the pest is removed or eradicated, discuss with the pest controller what preventative strategies can be put in place to ensure no repeat visits.

Consider:

• Have all cracks and crevices been repaired, so that entry points for insects, possums, birds and rodents are removed?
• Are tree branches providing a bridge to your house?
• Is the yard clean of weeds, food, rubbish or other materials that might attract pests?
• Is grass kept short?
• Can garden beds be moved away from walls of the house and organic mulch avoided?
• If outdoor furniture or firewood is brought indoors, is it checked first for insects such as spiders?
• Inside, food needs to be stored away securely and promptly
• Dirty utensils cleaned away at night
• Any leaks or dripping pipes etc. repaired;
• carpets vacuumed regularly
