Listening to possums running through the roof at night is no way to get a good sleep. With their natural habitat increasingly under threat, possums may seek to build a home in the next best thing - your roof. The possum most often found in Australian urban areas is the brushtail possum. They can gain entry to the roof, floor and wall cavities of a house through surprisingly small gaps. Tree branches may also be giving them a bridge to your roof. Native to Australia, by law possums cannot be harmed or moved more than 50 metres from where they are found, so once possums have been safely removed from your home, entry points must be sealed up, or they could soon return.

Installing a replacement home for the possum, such as a nest box in the garden, can be a way to keep everyone happy.
